About
It all started – summer time 2020 – with an Instagram post of Daphne’s homemade Strawberry + Guava Butter Mochi:
“Can I buy some?” Isabeau, a kanaka ‘ōiwi from Maui also living in the Pacific Northwest asked . . . And so, Daphne began offering weekly drops of her uniquely crafted butter mochi and vegan butter mochi for no-contact pick up from her garage in SE Portland.
Her distinctive flavors are inspired by seasonal bounty, whim, and memory. For Daphne, butter mochi embodies the texture of longing – for community, for ‘ohana, for Hawai’i, for home.
From the fall of 2020 through 2021, Daphne has taken her butter mochi and vegan butter mochi magic to events with Küchenhaus, Wellspent Market, Poppy & Finch, and Zuckercreme.
In January 2022, Daphne launched ‘Ono Mau Goods, LLC to expand her reach and bring her ‘onolicious goods to more pop ups and other events in the community. Her dream is to take ‘Ono Mau Goods on the road to the places she’s lived and loved and beyond. Mahalo for following her journey.
